If you’ve searched for plants and vegetable seeds lately, you may have noticed they’re as scarce as toilet paper. Gardening is making a huge comeback as people want to grow their own food and avoid fighting over the last can of beans at Costco.
More than ever, people are ordering plants and veggie seeds online. And the nurseries are BUSY. Some seed varieties are already sold out, and others are taking weeks to ship.
Meanwhile, I’m over here having major plant withdrawal. April is the month for buying all the plants and starting vegetable gardens.
The good news is, even though inventories are limited and shipping is delayed, there are lots of places to order seeds online. I put together this looonnnngg list of nurseries to help you track down the seeds you need and get your garden going.
Seeds for Your Veggie Garden
These nurseries are based in the U.S., and some will ship seeds internationally. Many have notices on their sites to let you know about current shipping status.

You might also have luck on Amazon. They sell seeds and bare root plants, and you can see approximately how long the shipping time will be. Here are some options that, for now, are expected to ship within a few weeks.

Edible Garden
Flower Garden
There are a lot of places to order plants and vegetable seeds online. This list isn’t exhaustive, but I’ll try to update it over time as I discover more nurseries.
Excellent list. It’s so important to know options of where to buy seeds, especially in the current situation where a lot of stores don’t have them or can’t sell them. I’m also glad you shared a link to some Canadian options as well. I ordered my seeds a few weeks ago and I’m glad I did because since then the company I ordered them from has put a temporary stop on new orders they have so many to fill but isn’t sure when they will open again.
Thanks Sarah! I included the Canadian nurseries list specifically for you and a few other blogger friends! 🙂 Glad you got your seeds. I ordered a batch two weeks ago and they haven’t shipped yet…fingers crossed…but I still have a bunch left over from last year that I’ve been using.
